Will We See a Blue Eyes Link Monster

Over the past week we've discussed how to adjust your Main Deck to make the most out of your Blue-Eyes White Dragons and new cards from Structure Deck: Saga of Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Today, we'll be shifting gears to focus on the different types of Extra Deck monsters that work best with your Blue-Eyes Deck.

Here are some different categories of Extra Deck monsters that you can best exploit with your Blue-Eyes White Dragons:

1.)    High Level Synchro Monsters

The Blue-Eyes White Dragon is a Level 8 monster. Therefore, in order to use it as a Synchro Material without changing its Level, you'll need to Summon a Level 9 or higher Synchro Monster. Fortunately, there are lots of them.

Azure-Eyes Silver Dragon is an obvious choice. As a Level 9 Synchro Monster, it's easy to Summon by Tuning a Level 1 Tuner like Maiden with Eyes of Blue with your Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

Trident Dragion and Star Eater are Level 10 and Level 11 Synchro Monsters that can also by Synchro Summoned by Tuning the Level 8 Blue-Eyes White Dragon with a Tuner monster. If you're using Level 2 and Level 3 Tuners like Dread Dragon or Delta Flyer in your Blue-Eyes Deck, Trident Dragion and Star Eater are essential Extra Deck Monsters.

2.)    Rank 8 Xyz Monsters

While using a Deck that swarms the field with Blue-Eyes White Dragons, you'll often find yourself with a pair of Level 8 Dragons. That's why you'll always want the option of combining them to Xyz Summon a Rank 8 Monster.

Thunder End Dragon is a Rank 8 monster that can only be Xyz Summoned by combining 2 Level 8 Normal Monsters. That makes the Blue-Eyes White Dragon the perfect monster for Xyz Summoning it. Other powerful Rank 8 monsters that you may want to use in your Blue-Eyes Extra Deck include Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis and Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Grinder.

3.)    Lower Rank Xyz Monsters

Blue-Eyes White Dragon won't always be the only monster you want to use as an Xyz Material. Sometimes, you'll be able to combine lower-Level monsters in an Xyz Summon instead. That's why you'll want to include a variety of Xyz Monsters in your Blue-Eyes White Dragon Extra Deck.

Some Xyz Monsters are particularly strong alongside the Blue-Eyes White Dragon strategy. Queen Dragun Djinn, for example, is a Rank 4 monster that protects all of your other Dragons from destruction in battle, and lets you detach an Xyz Material to Special Summon a Level 5 or higher Dragon (including the Blue-Eyes White Dragon!) from your Graveyard. If you're running Level 4 monsters like Alexandrite Dragon, Shining Angel, or Honest in your Blue-Eyes Deck, you'll want to include Queen Dragun Djinn in your Extra Deck.

Test out all different Ranks of Xyz Monsters, and see which ones work best with your Blue-Eyes Deck.

4.)    Awesome Fusion Monsters

If there's anything cooler than a Blue-Eyes White Dragon, its 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragons fused into one monster. That's the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.

The easiest way to Summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon is with Dragon's Mirror. Dragon's Mirror lets you banish monsters from your field and Graveyard to Special Summon a Dragon Fusion Monsters from your Extra Deck that uses those monsters as Materials. Banish 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragons, and you'll have the ultimate 4500 ATK Dragon blasting your opponent's Life Points away. You can also Special Summon the 5000 ATK Five-Headed Dragon with Dragon's Mirror by banishing any 5 Dragons. While Dragon's Mirror is in your Deck, Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon and Five-Headed Dragon are essential monsters for your Extra Deck.

The Blue-Eyes White Dragon is a powerful monster, but it may not be strong enough to win you Duels on its own. Enhance your Blue-Eyes Deck with an Extra Deck that includes Synchro Monsters, Xyz Monsters, and Fusion Monsters.
